Basic Oil Painting - Martha Carpenter | Oct. 14th-16th, 2019
This workshop is designed for serious students ready to master the essentials of oil painting. Basic Oil Painting may also serve as useful preparation for students who wish to refine their skills before taking Portrait Painting (Oct. 28th-30th).
The cost for Basic Oil Painting is $375 for the three-day intensive workshop, held on location in the artist's downtown Tuscumbia studio. The registration fee covers easel, taboret, palette, and reference material; a list of additional supplies required for the course is available at request, or upon registration.
Each session of the Basic Oil Painting course will begin with a painting demonstration by the instructor, conducted in the Alla Prima technique using a limited palette (three primary colors and white), using a still life as subject matter. Following the demonstrations students will create their own successful paintings working from still lives which have been placed throughout each day of the workshop.
Students may choose to retain the limited palette or to adopt a more extensive color range for their own projects.
